Random Acts of Kindness in Ramadan For Kids

If you are a parent looking for ideas for random acts of kindness in Ramadan for your child, here are some tips. This is a great way to teach your kids to give to others and perform a few good deeds along the way. Handing out notes to strangers is a subtle way for the recipient to know it's Ramadan, and making mention of our Prophet's SAW is good for spreading dawah.

Wondering What are Random Acts of Kindness?

They are random acts that you do for a stranger or even someone you know. It can be a pay-it-forward act, where you do something kind for someone in hopes that they'll feel inspired to do something kind for someone else. The intention is also to make someone feel happy or even get them to crack a smile. These acts are done purely for Allah SWT's pleasure and help teach a child to give selflessly without expecting anything in return.

Most people who perform random acts leave notes, favors, and gifts for strangers, while others will hand them to someone who serves them. Personally, I don't think it needs to be given only to strangers. However, the anonymity of this deed teaches a child the valuable lesson of receiving gratitude only from Allah SWT.

It's good for our nafs when we don't associate giving with the need to hear thanks from the person we deliver to. Also, leaving the favor or notes instead of handing them out is sometimes a safer choice for children when dealing with strangers.

These acts can be done along the way when you do your usual errands, so there is no need to make it hectic for you as a parent. I always tell parents to keep it simple and do what they can. If all you can do is leave a note for someone without a gift or favor attached, it's still an act of charity.

It's also good to teach your children to make their intentions known to Allah SWT before embarking on their acts of kindness. I designed this Ramadan Random Acts of Kindness printable to make it easy for parents to start this pay-it-forward deed with their children.

The Ramadan Random Acts of Kindness Book includes:

  • An instructions page that will explain how to do it, with ideas of how you can do it.

  • A pre-written note for someone to attach to a small gift or favor.

  • A pre-written note for someone who is Muslim to attach to a small gift or favor.

  • A pre-written note wishing someone a nice day.

  • A pre-written note wishing someone Muslim a nice day.

  • A pre-written note telling someone a nice compliment.

  • A pre-written note telling someone Muslim a nice compliment.

These charitable acts can teach our children to be kind and giving towards others and serve as lessons in selflessness and dawah. Ramadan is the month of giving and sacrifice, and what a better time to start these habits in our children that they will hold on to for life, inshAllah?
